Cloud areas and some thunderstorm activity is evident over inland New South Wales and eastern Victoria. This is caused by a surface trough that links to a cold front near to the east of Tasmania. Low cloud in the wake of this system is over the Bight and adjacent coast.
High cloud streaming in over central Western Australia and the western Bight is due to an upper level jet stream. Thunderstorm activity is also evident near the southwest of WA associated with another surface trough and low pressure system.
Low cloud over the North Tropical Coast of Queensland is from a moist onshore airstream while other areas remain relatively cloud free.
