IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 0000UTC Chart Issued at 12:18 pm EDT Wednesday on 08 February 2023 Severe Tropical Cyclone 'Freddy' is situated well off the coast of Northern Western Australia in the Indian Ocean. A second tropical low lies to the east of Australia in the Coral Sea. Both systems have bands of convective cloud surrounding them. A trough extending across the Top End, into a low in the Gulf of Carpentaria and across into the Coral Sea is associated with scattered cloud with embedded convection to the north of the trough. A broad layer of cloud is present to the north of a trough that extends from central Northern Territory into southwest Queensland and into central New South Wales. This cloud covers most of Queensland and parts of the Northern Territory. Low level cloud is present over southwest WA and along the coastlines of eastern Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland due to moist onshore flow. The rest of the country is mostly cloud free.
