Cold air from the Southern Ocean extends over the Tasman Sea and is evident by
the speckled cellular cloud. Extensive low cloud and fog over southeastern
Australia is a combination of the same cold air mass and subsidence from the
ridge of high pressure over land.

In the west, a vigorous cold front is slowly moving over southwest WA bringing
patchy cloud with embedded thunderstorms.

In the north a band of high cloud streaming over Queensland is associated with
an upper level jet stream.
