An extensive cloudband, with isolated thunderstorms, extends from the Queensland central coast to over the Tasman Sea. This is associated with a trough in the lower to middle levels of the atmosphere.
Patchy mid level cloud over southern Western Australia is associated with a cold front. A stronger cold front, with mainly low cloud, is moving over the far southwest of Western Australia.
Some low cloud is visible over the tropics, while the remaining areas of the country are mostly cloud free due to a strong high pressure system over inland New South Wales.
