An upper level trough and an area of low pressure is producing a broad cloud band which extends from WA, through SA and central Australia into VIC and TAS, with embedded lines of isolated thunderstorms in WA, southern NT and SA. Isolated thunderstorm activity is also evident about the far northern tropics, mainly near the coast. Isolated thunderstorms in northwest NSW is due to a surface trough. The rest of the country is mainly cloud free due to a ridge of high pressure.
