A large cloud band with embedded thunderstorms extends from central Australia
through to the southeast of the country as a result of an influx of tropical
moisture interacting with a surface trough and upper level jet stream. High
cloud captured by the jet stream is streaming over the remainder of Victoria and

A southerly onshore flow over southern WA and western SA has brought low level
cloud over the area. 

Other weaker troughs are triggered convective clouds over western Queensland and
northern parts of the NT and WA.

The rest of the continent is cloud free due to high pressure ridges.
