Satellite Notes for the 0000UTC chart on 30 August 2014

Issued at 12:18 pm EST Saturday on 30 August 2014

Areas of cloud with isolated thunderstorms over the Tasman Sea are associated with a deep low pressure system. Moist onshore flow has brought areas of low level cloud to eastern New South Wales.

The cloud band crossing southwest WA is associated with a slow moving cold front extending into the Southern Ocean. High level cloud can be seen streaming ahead of this front in the Bight.

Low cloud remains over parts of Tasmania. While in the north, middle level clouds can be seen streaming from the Arafura Sea to Cape York Peninsula.

The remainder of the country is mostly clear due to the presence of a high pressure ridge.
