A surface trough and a strong upper disturbance are generating a large cloud
band that extends from the Gulf of Carpentaria across eastern Queensland to a
cold front and low pressure system over the Tasman Sea. An "arm" of the cloud is
wrapping around the low and northward to be east of Bass Strait.

A mass of cold air has brought low cloud to Tasmania, southern Victoria and the
New South Wales coast.

The remainder of the country is relatively cloud-free due to a large high
pressure system.
