A surface low in the Gulf of Carpentaria and associated trough is producing an
active band of cloud with embedded thunderstorms. An upper level trough is also
dragging tropical moisture from the Indian Ocean into the tropical parts of
Australia, generating mid to upper level cloud with embedded thunderstorms in
the Kimberley region of WA, the Northern Territory, and northern and eastern
Queensland.

A high to the south of Western Australia is maintaining a moist southerly
onshore flow and generating areas of low cloud along the southern coastal areas
of South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.

The rest of the continent is mostly cloud free.
