A broad area of middle and high level cloud, with embedded showers and storms,
extends from the Indian Ocean and central parts of Western Australia across to
the southeast of the continent and the Tasman Sea. This is due to an infeed of
moisture ahead of a strong upper level trough.

A vigorous cold front over far eastern Victoria is associated with the frontal
cloud that stretches from northwest NSW to the Tasmania Sea. A large area of
"speckled" cloud south over the Bight is occurring in the cold air behind this

Cloud from thunderstorm activity extends over parts of Cape York Peninsula.
