Areas of mid level cloud over Western Australia, South Australia and the Bight is due to an upper level trough and a jet stream. A cloud band associated with an approaching cold front is visible over waters southwest of WA. A weakening cold front west of Tasmania is causing embedded thunderstorm activity.

Convective cloud and cold air remains over the Tasman Sea region due to a complex area of low pressure. Convective cloud is also visible about tropical areas of the northwest.
