An upper level trough has produced a middle to high level cloud band which
extends across eastern Australia. The cloud band is dissapating as it becomes
further removed from its tropical moisture source.

A cold front is crossing Tasmania, slipping south of the mainland influenced by
a strong and broad high pressure ridge.
Southern parts of Victoria are covered in low cloud ahead of this approaching
cold front.

The rest of the country is mostly clear with light winds, under the influence of
the high pressure ridge.
