A broad area of low pressure covers most of the continent with associated low
pressure trough extending across the interior. A cold front is moving over
southeast Australia. This instability combined with a warm moist airmass is
resulting in middle level cloud with widespread showers and thunderstorms across
most of the country including through WA, southern NT, SA, southern QLD, NSW and
VIC.

Patchy high level cloud associated with an upper level jet extends over far
southern parts of WA and the Bight.

A trough and a weak tropical low south of Java are enhancing the shower and
thunderstorm activity in the region.
