Satellite Notes for the 0000UTC chart on 31 August 2014

Issued at 11:01 am EST Sunday on 31 August 2014

Areas of cloud with isolated thunderstorms over the Tasman Sea are associated with a deep low pressure system. Moist onshore flow has brought areas of low level cloud to coastal parts of New South Wales.

The cloud band crossing southern WA is associated with a slow moving cold front extending into the Southern Ocean. High level cloud can be seen streaming ahead of this front over the Bight, South Australia and reaching the far west of Victoria and Tasmania.

Middle level clouds can be seen streaming from Papua New Guinea to the Coral Sea.

The remainder of the country is mostly clear due to the presence of a high pressure ridge.
