IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for the 1800UTC chart on 25 December 2014 Issued at 6:13 am EDT Friday on 26 December 2014 Showers and thunderstorms are active across the Kimberley and Top End due to a humid unstable airmass. Cloud is streaming from this region southeastward over Queensland and eastern New South Wales to the southern Tasman Sea. This weather complex is being driven by a strong upper trough over the eastern interior. Cloud associated with a cold front is moving through Gippsland to the east of Tasmania. Speckled cloud is visible behind the front over Bass Strait and Tasmania which depicts a cold airmass. Southerly winds are bringing areas of low cloud across the Bight and southern Western Australia coast. Cloud associated with Tropical Cyclone "Kate" can be seen northwest of Western Australia near Cocos Island.
