A surface trough combed with an upper trough is creating the mid-level cloud
band that spreads over eastern Australia including from southern Queensland to
northern Tasmania and across the Tasman Sea. Low cloud behind the trough system
is affecting southern parts of South Australia. 

A weak cold front to the south of Western Australia has an associated middle
level cloud band with onshore flow ahead of this front bringing low cloud to
southwest of Western Australia. A mid-level trough and jetstream are combining
to cause the cloud streaming across the Gascoyne and Pilbara regions of WA from
the Indian Ocean.

The remainder of the country is mostly clear under the influence of a high
pressure ridge.
