A ridge of high pressure extends over NSW and Queensland associated with a
blocking high in the Tasman Sea. This system is maintaining a moist onshore
airstream and generating localised areas of patchy low cloud along the northern
New South Wales and Queensland coasts.

A middle to high level cloud band streaming over central parts of WA, SA, NSW
and Vic is associated with an upper level Jet Stream and has thickened over the
south east due to interactions with surface troughs.

A cold front moving through the Great Australian Bight has a well defined cloud
band with embedded thunderstorms and a field of cellular cumulus in the cold air
in the wake of the front. Also in the wake of this front, another cold front can
be seen in the Bight with the frontal cloud band swirling around the associated
low pressure system.
