A broad area of low pressure covers most of the continent with an associated low
pressure trough extending across the interior. A cold front is moving off the
east coast of Australia. The instability associated with the trough combined
with a warm moist airmass is resulting in middle level cloud with widespread
showers and thunderstorms across most of the country including through WA,
southern NT, SA, southern QLD and NSW and VIC.

Regions of Queensland and the NT northeast of the trough are mainly hot and dry
with clear skies.

A trough and a weak tropical low south of Java are enhancing the shower and
thunderstorm activity in the region.
