An inland trough extends across northern Australia and down through WA to the
far southwest of the state. The trough is triggering scattered showers and
thunderstorms, along with patchy middle level cloud over most parts of WA and
the far northern parts of the Territory's Top End. Shower and thunderstorm
activity over Queensland has eased with only localised cells occurring along the
north coast.

A thick cloud band extends through the Tasman Sea and is associated with a
vigorous, deep low pressure system. The cloud band extends back over Tasmania,
far eastern parts of Victoria and southeastern NSW. Isolated showers are
expected within the cloud band.

The rest of the country remains clear under the influence of a slow moving ridge
of high pressure centred in the Indian Ocean south of the continent.
