A surface trough and associated cloud band with embedded thunderstorms extends over northern parts of the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
A cold front is over the Tasman Sea. A cold unstable air mass behind the front is moving over ocean waters off the New South Wales coast and is also affecting the East Gippsland region of Victoria.
A low pressure system and trough about the west coast of Western Australia is causing cloud to thicken with showers and thunderstorms developing over most parts of the state.
A ridge of high pressure is maintaining mostly clear conditions over central Australia apart from some streaming high cloud.
