A broad area of low pressure covers most of the continent with associated low
pressure troughs extending through the interior. A cold front is moving over
southeast Australia. This instability combined with a warm moist airmass is
resulting in middle level cloud with widespread showers and thunderstorms across
most of the country including through WA, southern NT, SA, southern QLD, NSW,
VIC, and Tasmania.

Wispy high based cloud extends over far southern parts of WA brought along by an
upper level jet streak.

A weak tropical low over the Timor Sea is enhancing the shower and thunderstorm
activity in the region.
