A monsoon trough is generating areas of thunderstorms about the Kimberley and
Pilbara coasts of Western Australia. High and middle level cloud is streaming
from this area through the interior and across the Bight. An established upper
level trough is generating this extensive cloud band. Thunderstorms are also
active over central Australia, the Top End and far north Queensland.

Further south, a strong cold front is progressing across Victoria to the east of
Tasmania. An area of speckled cloud depicts a particularly cold air mass over
Tasmania. Another frontal system is tracking further south across the Tasman Sea
towards the south island of New Zealand.
