Issued at 12:08 pm EST Monday on 28 July 2014

The Sub-Tropical Ridge, or the belt linking the high pressure systems, stretches across the middle of the continent. Embedded cold fronts and troughs with associated cloud are south of this in the vigorous westerly airstream over the Southern Ocean. One cold front is just reaching western Tasmania.

A line of jetstream cloud stretches from southeast WA scross the eastern Bight, southeast SA, northwest Victoria and southern NSW.

Some middle level cloud is visible over the Kimberley region, WA and also over eastern Cape York Peninsula.
