A broad area of low pressure extends from the central parts of Northern
Territory across Western Australia to west of the Bight, triggering
thunderstorms and a middle level cloud band.

A trough over central Queensland is generating isolated thunderstorms. High
cloud is drifting over northern Cape York Peninsula in the outflow from tropical
thunderstorm activity while a southeasterly airstream along the central and
tropical coast of Queensland is generating areas of low cloud.

A light and variable airstream over the southeast of the country is producing
patchy low cloud over southern Victoria and Tasmania.

Remainder of the country is mostly cloud free under the influence of a high
pressure ridge.
