A surface trough and associated cloud band with isolated embedded thunderstorms extends over northern and northeastern Australia eventually merging with a cold front over the Tasman Sea. A very cold air mass exists behind this front over agricultural areas of South Australia, southern New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania as depicted by the speckled cloud. A low pressure system about the west coast of Western Australia has produced some patchy cloud over southern parts of the state.
A ridge of high pressure over southern Western Australia is maintaining mostly clear conditions apart from some low cloud along the southern coast.
