A strong and persistent high pressure system in the Bight continues to dominate
the weather pattern over much of Australia, with much of the continent remaining
dry and relatively cloud free.

Thicker cloud over Tasmania, the Bass Strait and Victoria is associated with the
passage of a trough.

Cloud can also be seen over the tropical north-eastern coast of Queensland and
across parts of the Top End as a result of a moist south-easterly flow, however
much of this cloud is high-level.
