Surface troughs stretch across central WA and also from western Queensland south
through western NSW. The troughs are combining with an upper trough over WA and
a jetstream over the NT to generate thunderstorms and middle level cloud in
those areas, while afternoon heating is causing storms through Queensland and

Thunderstorms are active over Victoria and Tasmania due to a moist, unstable
airmass and diurnal heating.

Southerly winds are causing low cloud over the Great Australian Bight and parts
of the South Australian and Western Australian south coasts, while a weakening
cold front is crossing southern Bight waters.
