A Cloud band with embedded thunderstorms extends from northern WA across central
parts of the country to southern Queensland due to surface and upper level
troughs. Thunderstorms off the northwest coast of Western Australia are
associated with a tropical low located further northwest.

A cold front with an associated cloud band and embedded thunderstorms can be
seen moving across southern Queensland and far northeast New South Wales. The
cold front extends to a low pressure system located over southern Tasmanian Sea.

Low cloud is visible along the southern coasts of the country in the cool
southwesterly airstream behind the cold front.

A high pressure ridge keeps most of the southern interior of the continent cloud
free.
