In the south, a low pressure system with an associated cold front is moving
across Tasmania with a thick middle level cloud band over the region associated
with the system.

A trough extends across northern Australia producing showers and storms over the
Kimberley region of WA, northeastern parts of the NT and northern QLD. Some mid
level cloud produced by these storms sweeps across Queensland.

Low level moisture trapped under a ridge of high pressure that extends over
southern parts of the country is responsible for the low level cloud that
blankets the Great Australian Bight and coastal regions of southern WA, SA and
western VIC.
