Areas of middle level cloud with embedded thunderstorms cover parts of Western
Australia. This cloud is due to a surface trough which extends from the Gascoyne
region of Western Australia to the Northern Territory and also a slow-moving low
just off the WA west coast.

Isolated thunderstorms can be seen about parts of Tropical North Queensland and
the Gulf Country and also near the east coast of New South Wales to the east of
another inland trough. Severe tropical cyclone Ola remains well to the east of
Queensland in the Coral Sea.

Patchy low cloud about Tasmania, southern Victoria and coastal areas of South
Australia lies within a moist southerly airflow to the east of a slow-moving
high pressure system.
