Satellite Notes for the 1200UTC chart on 28 August 2014

Issued at 11:00 pm EST Thursday on 28 August 2014

Areas of cloud with isolated thunderstorms over the northern Tasman Sea are associated with a complex low pressure system and an upper level disturbance. Moist onshore flow has brought areas of low level cloud to eastern New South Wales and southeast Queensland.

A weakening cloud band is moving over Tasmania and a large band of cloud with embedded thunderstorms can be seen near southwest WA ahead of an approaching cold front.

The remainder of the country is mostly clear due to the presence of a high pressure ridge.
