A surge of cold air on the northern flank of a low pressure system, currently to
the far south of Tasmania, is responsible for a broad area of shower activity.
Patchy low cloud is evident throughout southern Victoria, southern South
Australia and about the southern coastline of Western Australia, as well as on
the Great Dividing Range in southern New South Wales.

The remainder of the country is generally clear due to a ridge of high pressure
extending into the central interior from a strong high to the west of Western
Australia.
