IDY28000 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Bureau National Operations Centre Satellite Notes for 1800UTC Chart on 20 April 2018 Issued at 5:40 am EST Saturday on 21 April 2018 Middle and high level cloud associated with a jet stream is streaming from the Indian Ocean through the interior of Western Australia and central Australia. Patchy cloud near a trough extends northwards through the Kimberley. Further south, a low pressure trough is moving through agricultural districts of South Australia which is triggering a line of shower and isolated thunderstorm activity. Cloud further extends through western Victoria and western parts of Tasmania. Clear conditions persist behind the trough over the Bight and southern districts of Western Australia. A cold front is clipping far southwest coast of Western Australia. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are visible near the southern Queensland and northern NSW coast. This activity is associated with an onshore flow combining with a low pressure trough. Southeasterly winds are bringing patchy low cloud to the remainder of the Queensland coast. A ridge of high pressure dominates the southeast of the country with mostly clear skies inland. Patchy low cloud and fog areas are evident about the coast and ranges through eastern Victoria and southern NSW.
