An area of cloud can be seen in the southern Coral Sea. This is associated with
a low pressure system, Ex-tropical cyclone "Tatiana".

Further north the monsoon trough stretches across the northern Coral Sea to the
north of the Australian continent and to the northwest of WA. Cloud and
thunderstorm activity is visible in the vicinity of the trough. Tropical Cyclone
"Uriah" is located to the far northwest of WA, west of Cocos Island. High cloud
can be seen streaming southwards from the cyclone outflow over the Indian Ocean
and across the southwest parts of WA and the Great Australian Bight. 

Thunderstorms are evident over the far northern parts of the country, howevere a
high pressure ridge over the south of the continent is maintaining mostly clear
conditions with some low cloud over southern coastal areas.

A cold front has crossed Tasmania with a stronger cold front approaching from
the west over the Southern Ocean.

Cloud, off the southern coast of NSW and into the Tasman Sea is associated with
surface and middle level troughs. Thunderstorms are occurring within this cloud
band to the east of Tasmania.

  • From 4 Dec 2015 MTSAT data is no longer received via direct broadcast. The Bureau continues to receive MTSAT imagery via FTP, however this has a greater latency. Please use the new high resolution satellite viewer for superior performance.
