Satellite Notes for the 1200UTC chart on 26 July 2014

Issued at 11:53 pm EST Saturday on 26 July 2014

An area of cloud extends from eastern Queensland and northeastern New South Wales to over the Tasman Sea. This is associated with a trough in the lower to middle levels of the atmosphere. Thunderstorms are also visible, although they are mainly over the Tasman Sea.

An extensive cloud band over the southwest of Western Australia is associated with a vigorous cold front, while another cold front and cloudband is over the southern Indian Ocean.

Some low cloud is visible over northern parts of the Northern Territory, while the remaining areas of the country are mostly clear due to a strong high pressure system.
