An area of middle level cloud with a few embedded thunderstorms extends over
central Australia and is associated with a slow moving surface trough. A second
trough lies over the SA/WA border and is triggering a more widespread area of
storms. A cold front is moving east through the central southern coast of
Western Australia. The coldest air behind the front is producing showers and
thunderstorms, and is seen crossing the southern coast of WA.

Low cloud lingers over parts of Tasmania, eastern Victoria and near the New
South Wales coast within a moist southerly airstream. Thunderstorm activity is
also triggering off the northern NSW coast. A deep low pressure system is still
rotating over the southwestern Tasman Sea, well to the east of Tasmania.
