Satellite Notes for the 1800UTC chart on 1 September 2014

Issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday on 02 September 2014

The cloud band over the southeast of the country is associated with an active cold front and surface trough. Cold-air cloud behind this front can be seen over Victoria and Tasmania.

Cloud over the southwest of Western Australia is due to a combination of a low pressure trough over the Indian Ocean and an upper level jet stream.

The northern half of the country is mostly clear due to a ridge of high pressure extending northwards from the Bight.
