The cloud band with embedded thunderstorms over southern Western Australia and
the Bight is due to surface troughs and a low pressure system located to the
west.

A cold front with its associated cloud band can be seen over the Tasman Sea.

Patchy low cloud over the Queensland east coast is the result of the southeast
trade wind flow.

The remainder of the country is mostly clear due to a ridge of high pressure.
