A surface trough extends from the Pilbara district of Western Australia through
northern parts of South Australia and southern Queensland to a deep low pressure
system over the Tasman Sea. Significant areas of thunderstorms can be seen over
land along the trough, with isolated thunderstorms also embedded in the cloud
band over the eastern Tasman Sea.
