A cloud band with embedded thunderstorms lies over eastern parts of Western Australia and is associated with a slow-moving surface trough. Patchy high cloud extends from this system across the Great Australian Bight into southern parts of South Australia and western Victoria.
Diurnal thunderstorms over the far northern tropics of Queensland and the Northern Territory have dissipated overnight.
A deep low pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea to the west of New Zealand. Patchy low cloud over Tasmania lies within a moist southwesterly airflow to the west of this low.
