An extensive area of middle level cloud with isolated embedded thunderstorms
extends from northwestern districts of Western Australia southwards to the Bight
and is primarily caused by an upper level disturbance and surface trough. Some
high cloud is also evident near an the upper level jet stream crossing Tasmania.

A surface trough is generating thunderstorms embedded in middle level cloud over
far northeastern New South Wales and southeastern Queensland. Patches of low
cloud are persisting along the remaining QLD east coast in a moist southeasterly
trade flow off the Coral Sea.

The central areas of the country are cloud free under the influence of a high
pressure ridge.
