A strong and persistent high pressure system in the Bight continues to dominate
the weather pattern over much of Australia, with much of the continent remaining
dry and relatively cloud free.

Thicker cloud across Tasmania and parts of Victoria are associated with a trough
and cold front over the south-east, with some low cloud reaching up into New
South Wales.

Some high cloud is spilling into the Pilbara and Kimberley districts of Western
Australia from thunderstorms over the Indian Ocean, with some high cloud also
over northern Queensland.
