Interests and Research:

I am Leader of the Data Assimilation Group of BMRC; this group has as its major activity the research and development of the global assimilation and prediction system used operationally by the Bureau of Meteorology. The system is deployed operationally twice per day in assimilation of the previous 12 hours global observations and in 7 day prediction. In research the system is under continuing refinement and evaluation; in particular optimization of use of available data, refinement of assimilation algorithms, improved parameterization in the modelling of physical processess and refined numerical modelling are all subjects being addressed within the group.
