Education:

  • PhD (1996)
Thesis title:Air-Sea Exchange of CO2 over the Antarctic Seasonal Ice Zone
Institute of Antarctic and Southern Ocean Studies
    University of Tasmania, Hobart, Australia
  • MSc (1989)
Thesis title: A Study of Travelling Ionospheric Disturbances over Macquarie Island using an Oblique cw HF Sounder
Department of Theoretical and Space Physics, La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia

Interests & Research:

A wide-ranging background in experimental physics and observational oceanography, working in fluid dynamics, upper atmospheric physics, atmosphere/ocean gas fluxes, ocean currents and sea surface temperatures.
Currently working as part of the BLUElink Project on developing a real-time high resolution sea surface temperature analysis system for the Australian region, blending SST data from infra-red and microwave instruments on polar-orbiting and geostationary satellites (AVHRR, AATSR, GOES-9 Imager, MTSAT-1R and AMSR-E), with in situ data from buoys, ships, XBTs and ARGO floats.
