The Bureau of Meteorology is seeking an IT project support officer to work within the Software Systems and Services Section. The successful applicant will perform an important co-ordination, communication and reporting role, and will directly contribute to projects by providing assistance with project administration, technical documentation, and web information content and management.

RECORDS MANAGER (Senior Officer Grade C)   ( $80,569-$87,000 ) [1 position]

As leader of the Records Team you will manage a small group in providing records management advice and registry services to the Bureau's Head Office. The role will include the development and implementation of organisation wide policy on records management. You will be integral to the proposed implementation of an Electronic Document Management System. Sound knowledge of Commonwealth record keeping policies and legislation together with strong organisational and interpersonal skills are highly desirable.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS SPECIALIST   ( $80,569-$87,000 ) [1 position]

This position will provide general communications development, support, and maintenance services for the wide range of information systems deployed throughout the Bureau, including the recently established Australian Tsunami Warning System (ATWS). The position will focus on telecommunications and communications network systems and functions, particularly the support of remote instrumentation communications systems, telecommunications services, video conferencing, IP telephony, voice messaging and telephony systems, to achieve optimal system functionality, reliability, cost effectiveness, and usability. Participation in a 24 x 7 on-call support roster may be required. Some interstate and/or overseas travel may be required for short periods of time The successful candidate will be able to prioritise competing requirements in consultation with management, leading to effective and efficient job performance with limited direction and supervision.

TECHNICAL OFFICER [ENG] LEVEL 3  ( $58,191 - $62,849 ) [2 positions]
Level: APS5 Ref: 4157 10090 Status: Ongoing  

Operate a facility for the calibration of acoustic water level sensors and meteorological sensors. Maintain accurate records of calibrations and field operations for data analysis. Maintain and service specialised electronic equipment down to component level. Help organise and undertake regularly scheduled calibration and maintenance visits to remote monitoring sites within Australia and the South-West Pacific. Install and commission PC hardware and software as well as data transmission equipment in local and overseas locations. Arrange or as required undertake (desirable) underwater diving maintenance operations. Note: This position is to be integrated into the broader Bureau responsibilities for sea level and related equipment maintenance and may be based in Melbourne in the future.
