Bureau of Meteorology: Tropical Cyclone Warning Services

Introduction

These pages provide information on the warnings services for tropical cyclones that are provided to the public by the Bureau of Meteorology. The information includes the types of warning that are issued, when and where they are issued and samples of the individual warnings.

Area Covered

Tropical cyclones develop over tropical waters around Australia during the warmer months, mostly November to April.  The Bureau of Meteorology provides warning services for these cyclones.  Warnings are issued for land based communities under threat and for mariners.  Routine outlooks are also issued during the cyclone season.
