Explanation of GMS (Geostationary Meteorological Satellite) imagery

Satellite-derived global solar exposure estimates are based on Geostationary Meteorological Satellite (GMS) 4, GMS-5 and Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) 9 imagery that are provided with permission of Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The Bureau of Meteorology's computer radiation model uses visible images from the geostationary meteorological satellites to estimate daily global solar exposures at ground level.
