Return to Australian Climate Variability and ChangeRegional Temperature Trends

Annual mean temperatures have generally increased throughout Australia since 1910. However, the amount of warming has not been uniform throughout the country, nor has it been the same for maximum and minimum temperatures.

Below are annual mean temperature time-series for the four quadrants of Australia divided by the lines 135°E and 26°S.

The largest increase in minimum temperatures has been in the northeast quadrant of Australia while the largest increase in maximum temperatures has been in the northwest. Further information in the regional variation of temperature trends is available here.
