Return to Australian Climate Variability and Change Annual and Seasonal Temperature Trends since 1950

Most of Australia has experienced a warming trend in annual mean temperatures in recent decades. However, the amount of warming has varied between seasons. Generally each season shows a significant warming trend in minimum temperatures in inland Queensland while summer shows a cooling trend in maximum temperatures in northern Western Australia.

The maps below indicate annual and seasonal temperature trends since 1950. The trend is the slope of the linear regression of temperature against time,in units of °C per decade.
