A number of case histories of climate risk management decisions will be offered and discussed.
Discussion
Agriculture is the greatest user and possibly the greatest misuser of climate information
Successful climate risk management in agriculture involves not just a consideration of climate information but also production, resource management, market and other macro economic variables as well as political hazards and an understanding of climate and meteorology.
It is important to remember that every business is different and a good climate risk management decision for one could be quite inappropriate for another.
Some climate forecasts are more useful than others and it takes an effort to understand the climate and make the best use of the information.
